I love edamame, but I don’t like eating a lot of it because soy isn’t the best for women (so I’ve heard from multiple sources), so I am excited to tell you about Stahlbush Island Farms Green Chick Peas, which taste almost identical to edamame. But, these garbanzo chick peas are harvested before the bean has a chance to brown and harden into the familiar garbanzo bean flavor and texture.
The green garbanzo beans are the perfect light snack, or can be served as a stand-alone side to your main dish. Whether they are lightly steamed and sprinkled with sea salt or added to stir-frys, the beans are remarkably versatile. You can even make hummus from them, or many other recipes you use the familiar garbanzo beans with.
The beans are bright green and have the flavor and satisfying pop that’s reminiscent “It’s amazing how if they are harvested earlier, the texture and taste completely change,” said Daniel Stockton, National Retail Sales Manager for Stahlbush Island Farms.
Stahlbush Island Farms even helps the environment by its trademark packaging–a brown 100% biodegradable package.
For the below picture, I simply tossed the beans with a little EVOO and spices and roasted in the over at 375 for 20 minutes! I put them on my counter and snacked while I was cooking my dinner.
I can wait to try more recipes with these green guys!
